Special teams formed to identify the gangs

The Machavaram police began probe into the alleged ganja supply and sale by some youth in the area.

Acting on a complaint lodged by N. Nageswara Rao, an NRI, that some ganja peddlers were threatening the public and forcibly taking their money and other belongings, the police have formed teams to identify the gangs. Mr. Rao, a resident of LIC Colony, who is living in Virginia, US, visited the city recently. He complained that some youth addicted to ganja were threatening people with blades and knives and robbing them of.

Fresh complaint lodged

“Following the complaint, Machavaram police picked up a few suspects a few days ago, but the problem is yet to be addressed in toto,” he said, adding that he had sent a fresh complaint to the police commissioner with the names of seven suspects.

Machavaram Circle Inspector Sahera said that police were making efforts to identify the ganja suppliers and peddlers in the colonies.
