WAYNESBORO - A man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning at the Colony House Motel in Waynesboro, the Augusta County Sheriff's Office said.
The shooting took place shortly before 4 a.m.
The sheriff's office said the shooting victim, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate two men were involved in an altercation before the fatal shot was fired.
A person has been detained but no charges have been filed, authorities said.
The motel is located at 494 Three Notched Mountain Highway.
