US President Donald Trump slammed Hollywood actor Robert De Niro on Wednesday after he abused him at the Tony Awards.
Trump called Robert De Niro "a very low IQ individual".
"Robert De Niro, a very low IQ individual, has received too many shots to the head by real boxers in movies. I watched him last night and truly believe he may be 'punch-drunk'," tweeted Trump.
The tweets came to light after he was on his way back to the US from Singapore. Trump was in Singapore to attend a historic meeting with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un regarding the denuclearisation of the "nuke-bound" country. Trump, sounding a bit furious, posted a series of tweets against Robert De Niro.
"I guess he doesn't realize the economy is the best it's ever been with employment being at an all-time high, and many companies pouring back into our country. Wake up Punchy!"
Veteran actor Robert De Niro on Sunday night had spoken against US President Trump before introducing a performance by Bruce Springsteen.
"First, I wanna say, f*** Trump," De Niro said in the bleeped telecast.
"It's no longer 'Down with Trump', it's f*** Trump."
De Niro received a standing ovation by the audience.
