Palanpur: Patidar leader Hardik Patel on Wednesday joined a fast by the family members of two Patidars killed in police firing at Gadh village in Banaskantha three years ago. The nephew of one of the deceased has begun a fast unto death,
demanding action against the policemen concerned.
Brijesh Patel, the nephew of Kanu Patel who was killed along with Mahesh Patel on August 26, 2015, began his fast near the district collector’s office in Palanpur. The quota agitation had turned violent after Patidar leader Hardik Patel was arrested at GMDC ground in Ahmedabad.
Brijesh said that besides the support various Patidar leaders, including SPG president Lalji Patel, Hardik’s visit has given moral support to Patidars, who are fighting against the injustice done to them.
Hardik said, “This is a peaceful fight for justice for the martyrs killed during the quota agitation.” Besides punishment for the personnel who opened fire and those who ordered them to do so, Hardik also demanded the immediate withdrawal of cases against Patidars, claiming that charges were fabricated.
