Every school year is a marathon and an adventure. This past school year certainly was both, and we have reached the finish line with success.

Now another journey is about to begin. The summer months at Worthington Schools provide a chance for students and educators to extend the learning experience in many ways.

Worthington Schools is a year-round operation where learning never stops.

Our staff members recently participated in WorthU, which is a professional-development day for all our teachers and administrators. It was a great day of collaboration and learning so that we can continue to enhance our skills to meet the needs of all students.

We expect more than 1,000 Worthington students to take advantage of programs offering enrichment or intervention this summer. We will have countless more students participating in athletics camps, our Worthington Field Studies trip, summer-reading programs with our libraries and many other summer learning activities.

In addition, this month we are offering a Summer Enrichment Academy in which students can pursue their passions by taking such classes as Meteorology and Forecasting, Curtain Call (drama), Success Skills, Songwriting, Wagging and Woofing (careers working with dogs), Musical Theater Dance Camp and the Exploration of Ecosystems.

More traditional summer school classes also are being offered at the high school level for those looking to get ahead of their schoolwork or those looking to recover credits they need to stay on track for on-time graduation.

At Worthington Schools, our students and teachers are engaged and that means learning never stops. The summer months are a great time not only to relax and recharge, but it also can be a time to explore new ways to learn.

Thanks for a great school year. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer.
