Chase Anderson of Wichita Falls had his best outing of the season in a 4-0 win over the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night.

Anderson, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, pitched seven innings, allowing one hit, two walks and no runs while striking out six. He had a mix with eight flyouts, seven groundouts and six whiffs in his 107-pitch outing. It was his first outing with more than 100 pitches.

Anderson received a GameScore of 79 by ESPN. His previous best outing was a 73 in his season debut against San Diego when he allowed one hit and three walks in six shutout innings.

The outing Tuesday brought Anderson’s season ERA down to 4.13 (his career is 3.90) and his WHIP to 1.17.

Anderson had a 2.74 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 25 starts (141.1 innings) in 2017.

Former Bowie HS star gives Red Sox a lift

Brandon Workman from Bowie has been with the Red Sox this month after starting the season in the minor leagues. And he's been a boost to the bullpen of baseball's second-best team in 2018.

Workman has four scoreless outings totaling 4 1/3 innings with two hits, one walk and five strikeouts. He had a 4.18 ERA in 28 innings at Pawtucket but that was skewed by one early rough outing. He'd settled down to earn his latest promotion. Workman was a member of the 2013 World Series champion Red Sox, winning six games in the regular season and pitching 8 2/3 innings of relief in the playoffs.
