Girls outshine boys in Intermediate advanced supplementary exams

50 junior colleges will be set up in State, says Ganta

Over 2.58 lakh candidates cleared first and second year Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE) – 2018 results of which were released here on Tuesday. In all 4.35 lakh appeared for the exams.

Releasing the results, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said the examination papers were evaluated in a record time of 18 days after the conclusion of the examinations held last month.

While 2.48 lakh students passed the general courses (first and second year), 10,000 candidates cleared the vocational courses.

Girls fared better than boys in the exams with 68 % pass percentage while boys registered 63%. In vocational courses 47% girls passed whereas 45% boys cleared the exam.

Re-verification

The HRD Minister said those who want to opt for recounting and reverification of valued answer scripts can avail the opportunity by paying an extra amount of ₹200 per paper for recounting and ₹1,000 per paper for scanned copy-cum-re-verification process through Mee Seva centres.

The last date for payment of fee towards recounting/re-verification is June 20. Candidates can also apply through Andhra Pradesh Centre for Financial Systems and Services (APCFSS) by logging on to apbie.apcfss.in.

Noon meal scheme

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the State government will extend its midday meal scheme to first and second year Intermediate students from the current academic year.

“This apart, a total of 50 junior colleges and 15 degree colleges are proposed to be opened in Andhra Pradesh. In addition, the State government is taking the initiative of introducing Intermediate in 31 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) from the ensuing academic year,” he said. Secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education B. Udaya Lakshmi, and Registrar of Andhra University V. Uma Maheswara Rao were among others who were present.
