2019 Audi S7 Shows Off Mean New Design And At Least 450 Horses

A pair of undisguised next-generation Audi S7 models have been spied undisguised during their latest round of testing.

The all-new A7 hit the market earlier this year and while it still looks like an Audi, it does benefit feature a selection of obvious design elements created as part of the firm’s latest styling language. Unsurprisingly, the more performance-focused S7 will look essentially identical to the A7 except for a few different parts.

When viewed from the front, the 2019 S7 can be seen wearing a bespoke front bumper with larger and more aggressive air intakes than the A7. Additionally, there are a set of sporty new wheels, a revised rear bumper with a subtle diffuser and quad tailpipes. A handful of S7 badges will complete the exterior changes.

Inside, things will be pretty much identical to the rest of the A7 range. With that being said, there will be S7 badges also and potentially, some different trim options with contrast stitching.

A new Audi RS7 should follow shortly after the S7

The most important changes enjoyed by the S7 will come under the skin. Our sources indicate that the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine from the Porsche Panamera 4S is likely to be the sole powertrain option, delivering at least 450 hp. When combined with an all-wheel drive system, this should allow the 2019 S7 to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in roughly 4.5 seconds. We should note though that there’s an unsubstantiated rumor going around that claims Audi might opt for the Panamera’s bi-turbo V8 with around 500hp instead.

Compared to the outgoing S7, the new car will benefit from the use of the MLB Evo platform, just like the A7. As such, the new car will be around 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter and promises to be a little more capable when the roads get twisty.

Based on the lack of camouflage of these prototypes and the fact that the car has been testing for roughly 12 months, a global premiere is thought to be just around the corner. Keep your eyes peeled for a launch at the Paris Auto Show in early October.
