Just brew it: Free coffee lure at new Applecross jungleland

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow."

So says the sign outside Cioccolato Espresso, whose owners have planted a seed of their own to entice coffee lovers to their new lush surrounds in Applecross.

Russell and Anita Corr are green thumbs at heart and have transformed the laneway at their cafe into a horticulture haven named Botanical Laneway.

Anyone who has visited the pair's other two venues - Hylin and Back Bar in West Leederville - would recognise their green passion.

“I love my plants ... so I thought I’d put my green thumbs to work,” Anita said.

The duo took over Cioccolato Espresso in 2015 and transformed it into a bustling neighbourhood haunt.

Now the space has some serenity too, with the laneway given a fresh lick of paint and transformed into a plant store.

“People have always loved to linger down the laneway at Cioccolato Espresso, so we wanted to build upon the experience,” Anita said.

Green thumbs who visit Botanical Lane will appreciate Anita’s fondness of unique plants, such as swiss cheese, chain of hearts and devil’s ivy, with old favourites like succulents and monstera deliciosa also hanging around.

Botanical Lane opens this Saturday, with the duo pouring free coffee to every visitor to the new jungleland from 9am -2pm.
