A man told Columbus police he was punched in the side of the head at 8:30 a.m. June 3 outside a business in the 2600 block of North High Street.

The victim said the suspect, who reportedly had been begging for money outside, did not try to take anything from him nor did he say anything.

In other recent Clintonville-area police reports:

* A $3,000 set of golf clubs and a $50 GPS device were reported stolen at 10:25 a.m. June 2 from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in the 500 block of East Weisheimer Road.

* A package containing $50 in dog treats was reported stolen at 4:54 p.m. June 2 from the front porch of a home in the first block of West Brighton Road. The victim said he saw the suspect in the theft driving away.

* A man contacted police at 12:25 p.m. June 2 to report an apparent attempted burglary in the 3100 block of Summit Street.

The victim said someone cut the screen on a window after May 26.

* A car was reported stolen from the first block of Medbrook Way at 9:15 a.m. June 3. The owner said the vehicle was taken after 10 p.m. the previous day.

* About $20 in cash and vehicle registration were reported stolen at 7:24 a.m. June 3 from a car parked in the 100 block of Irving Way, reports said.

* A man who lives in the 600 block of East Beechwold Boulevard contacted police at 8:49 a.m. June 2 regarding a case of fraud.

The victim said he mailed a check for $500 to a credit-card company from a post office at 9 a.m. June 1, but the check evidently was stolen and altered to be payable to an individual.

* Someone was observed trespassing at 9 p.m. June 5 at a business in the 2800 block of North High Street.

According to the arresting officer, the person previously had been issued a trespass warning to stay off the property and had been arrested at the business in the past.

* A woman who lives in the 500 block of East Tulane Road filed menacing and telecommunications harassment complaints at 10 a.m. June 3 after receiving what she described as nonstop calls from a man with whom she was seeking to break off a relationship.

* A man who lives in the 500 block of Broad Meadows Boulevard reported receiving a text at 4 p.m. June 1 that described him as a "dead man walking."
