PATNA: The state transport department will launch 15
new buses, connecting 17 different locations between
Gandhi Maidan and Patna City, on Thursday. Three major railway stations, including the Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal and Patna Sahib station, will be covered under the new route called ‘555’.
State transport minister Santosh Kumar Nirala and transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal will flag off the buses from the Patna Sahib station. They will be available at an interval of every 10-15 minutes, starting from 7am till 9pm.
“The route has been named ‘555’ as a sign of respect for Panj Pyare — the five beloved ones of Sikh
Guru Gobind Singh. The 17 locations include Kargil Chowk, Biscomaun Bhawan, Dak Bungalow, Patna Junction, Chandmari Road, Kankerbagh Colony, Tiwary Bechar, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Bahadurpur Gumti, Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, Kumhrar Park, Dhanuki Mor, Zero mile, Chhoti Pahari Mor, Tent City Mor, Mangal Talab Mor and Patna Sahib station,” Agarwal said on Wednesday.
Since the launch of inter-city bus services, the footfall of commuters has turned out to be remarkable. “The 15 buses will run on the bypass route instead of Ashok Rajpath and therefore, the travel time will be reduced,” Agarwal told this newspaper.
