David de Gea: Manchester United to Real Madrid
Should Manchester United fans be worried by Julen Lopetegui’s shock appointment as Real Madrid’s next manager?
Metro says United supporters are fearing the worst about David de Gea’s future after Spain head coach Lopetegui signed a three-year deal with the Champions League winners.
Lopetegui, who was then sacked by Spain this morning, has an “excellent relationship” with De Gea, the Daily Mail reports, and will be “expected to see-in a new goalkeeper at the club”.
The Manchester Evening News adds that Real believe they can land De Gea for £100m after president Florentino Perez accepted he will “have to smash the world transfer record [for a goalkeeper] if he is ever to lure him to the Bernabeu”.
Could Alderweireld stay at Tottenham?
It had looked a certainty that Toby Alderweireld would leave Spurs after failing to agree a new contract. But despite his future remaining unclear the Belgium defender says he could stay at Tottenham. The 29-year-old, who has been linked with Manchester United, said: “Why not? I have two years left on my contract. I don’t know what is going to happen.” (The Daily Telegraph)
Rose no longer a target for United
Another Tottenham player heavily linked with a move to Manchester United has been left-back Danny Rose. The England defender was hoping to clinch a “dream move” to Old Trafford this summer but it’s reported that United boss Jose Mourinho has “shelved plans” to sign another full-back. Sandro too expensive
Left-back transfer targets are all the rage at Manchester United it seems, but they must be affordable. Alex Sandro has long been linked with United, but the Old Trafford club are refusing to meet Juventus’s €60m (£53m) asking price for the Brazilian. (Daily Record)

N’Zonzi eyes move to ‘bigger’ club
French international Steven N’Zonzi says he wants to play for a bigger club than Sevilla. The midfielder, who has been linked with Arsenal, said: “I am feeling very good at Seville but they are not the biggest club in Europe. Playing with high-profile players in a big team could be a good progression for me.” (The Sun)
