The ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine) at Platform-4 entrance of Duvvada Railway Station, which has not been working for the last one year, has been revived recently.
The non-functioning of the ATVM was reported in the weekly column ‘On The Move’ on May 22. The railways have now installed a new ATVM, says Duvvada Railway User’s Association president K. Eswar.
The ticket booking counter on this side, closes by 7 p.m. every day. Daily commuters travelling to Visakhapatnam Junction had to either go to the PF-1 entry, crossing the tracks or the Foot-Over- Bridge to purchase the tickets due to the non-functioning of the ATVM on PF-4.
The plight of passengers travelling to Visakhapatnam was miserable, when the Janmabhoomi Express was delayed and there was neither the booking counter nor the ATVM on PF-4 side.
The railways are yet to repair the ATVM on PF-1, which has also not been working for a couple of weeks now, adds Mr. Eswar.
