A 35-year-old man died after he fell on a protruding metal angle inside a bus when the driver applied brakes on June 7, the police said on Monday.

The injured man then got down from the bus near Tigri Camp in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar and informed his father. The victim, Vinod Kumar, was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

Since Kumar died before his statement could be recorded, the police are yet to identify the bus and its driver.

“We are looking at CCTV cameras to identify the bus or the driver,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said.

The complaint filed by Kumar’s father Lal Chand states that his son had called him around 11 a.m. saying that he was injured and had reached home. “Kumar was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after he complained of severe pain. He died during treatment,” said a senior police officer. Mr. Chand demanded action against the driver for alleged ‘carelessness’.

The police said Kumar’s medical report revealed he was under influence of alcohol at the time of incident.

Mr. Baaniya said an FIR has been registered for causing death due to negligence under Section 304A at the Sangam Vihar police station
