Missing CMO file: Haryana government approaches police

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has approached the Chandigarh police to recover sensitive files that went missing from the office of CM Manohar Lal Khattar. The files pertain to a legal dispute over quashing of President’s orders and a Union environment ministry panel’s recommendations, says the May 21 complaint.

The file had been submitted to the CM to decide on the withdrawal of a petition by Khattar’s predecessor, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, seeking quashing of the Union government panel’s report that had indicted Hooda and senior officials for fabricating charges against whistleblower IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi, a Magsaysay awardee who has exposed many scams.

The Khattar government had initially decided to withdraw Hooda’s petition, but later decided to endorse the move. A March 1 RTI application by Chaturvedi had revealed that the files had gone “untraceable”. TOI had reported about the missing files on April 25.
