Rahul Gandhi pleads not guilty in RSS defamation case |
A court in Maharashtra today framed charges against Congress President Rahul Gandhi in connection with a criminal defamation case filed against him by an RSS worker.
The court framed the charges under various sections of Indian Penal Code. When Judge AI Sheikh read out charges against him, Gandhi pleaded not guilty.
The Congress President reached the Bhiwandi Court in Thane district for the hearing amid heavy security.
The court had, last month, asked Mr Gandhi to appear before it today to record his plea in the case.
Rajesh Kunte had filed the case in 2014 after watching Rahul Gandhi's speech at an election rally in which he had alleged that the RSS was behind the killing of Mahatma Gandhi.
