LUCKNOW: The late night assault on the younger brother of Dr Kafeel Khan has evoked a sharp reaction from him as he hinted in his Twitter outburst against state authorities. Hours after the incident, he posted a two-minute Twitter selfie video on Monday that was tittled “Allah rahem kare, M not going to bend”.

Khan’s last post on Facebook and Twitter deals with questions over more than 50% vacancies lying at the same state-run Baba Raghav Das (BRD) hospital in Gorakhpur where he was working at the time when 32 kids died last year on intervening night of August 10-11.

“More than 50 % vacancies at consultant level, only 3 senior residents against post of 29, 50 % more staff nurses, paramedic/class 4 employees needed to combat encephalitis. So that’s your preparation? 907 kids died in 5 months - how many more deaths would wake ur consiciousness” Kafeel posted on Twitter.

His post had come barely four hours before his brother was attacked at 10:15 PM. On Monday, he didn’t mince words to take swipes, without naming anyone. “Someone definitely got offended with my recent criticism on health conditions. And, we nearly paid the price yet again,” he told TOI “First I will thank everyone. My brother has survived three bullets. He is in ICU but not out of danger. We don’t know who tried to kill him. But we know the incident took place at just 500 metres from the Gorakhnath Temple where chief minister lives,” Kafeel said in his Twitter video.

Khan was suspended and remained so until Allahabad high court in April, allowed him to walk on bail. He also took pot shots at the Gorakhpur Police for trying to delay the emergency medical treatment till medico legal document is prepared. “My brother kept bleeding profusely with a bullet inside his neck still to be taken out. The cops showed no mercy and kept shifting him from ambulance to Sadar hospital to BRD until we put our foot down” he said.
