Vadodara: Alert after three persons were nabbed recently for robbing pandrol clips on the railway track between Godhra and Kharsalia section, the Vadodara railway division of Western Railways has stepped up its vigil on the railway tracks.
Pandrol clips which are used for fastening tracks to rail sleepers are important tools when it comes to safety of rail movement.
Devendra Kumar, divisional railway manager (DRM) of Vadodara railway division on the wee hours of Tuesday morning led a team of officials who accompanied patrolmen from Godhra and Kharsalia railway stations for patrolling on the stretch.
The officials conducted the night patrolling by walking on the 11 km stretch with patrolmen – Vitthalbhai and Dineshbhai from Godhra and Varsinghbhai and Popatbhai from Kharsalia - from 3 am to 6.30 am between the sections.
“The dedication and commitment of the patrolmen are commendable. It is largely because of such unsung foot soldiers that we have safe and secure nights. They patrol the tracks carrying heavy tools, torch light and shoulder bags with detonators, flags among other equipment,” said Kumar, adding that the security patrol was done after the recent theft of pandrol clips in the section.
The division has also decided that RPF team which detected the recent theft will be given a reward while the spirit of patrolmen will be recognised with an appreciation letter and cash award.
RPF sleuths had recently nabbed three accused – all residents of Vejalpur area of Panchmahals’ Kalol taluka who had removed pandrol clips from the railway section.
While the sleuths had arrested Bharat Nayak, 36, Shrimati Nayak, 35 and Nana Raheman for stealing the clips, during inquiry, they came to know that a fourth accused was also involved in stealing of railway material from Kharsalia station. One accused identified as Arvind Chatur, who is also a resident has been absconding.
