Trailer watch: Damien Chazelle’s ‘First Man’ explores Armstrong’s life

Damien Chazelle, the 33-year-old Academy Award winning film director who has given us La La Land and Whiplash, is now all set to bring to screen the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong. 

First Man is a biographical and historical adventure space film, which explores the life and formative years of Neil Armstrong, leading up to his decision to be a part of one of NASA’s most challenging missions till date: Apollo 11, the mission to the moon.

First Man’s cast includes Ryan Gosling who plays Armstrong, Corey Stoll as Buzz Aldrin, and Jason Clarke as Ed White, the first American to walk on Space. Claire Foy will play the role of Janet Shearon, Neil Armstrong’s first wife. 

The film’s screenplay written by Josh Singer, is based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen. Singer won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Spotlight, and was nominated for a Golden Globe for The Post.

First Man is scheduled for an October 2018 release.
