RSS hits out at Congress over animation blaming Sangh for stopping anti-cervical cancer vaccine

NEW DELHI: An RSS-affiliated body today condemned an animation posted by the Congress on its Twitter handle which blamed the Sangh for halting introduction of anti-cervical cancer vaccine in the country.

The Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) also accused the opposition party of backing certain pharmaceutical lobbyists.

According to the SJM, the Congress from its Twitter handle issued the animation saying that the RSS prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop cervical cancer vaccine in India.

"An irresponsible animation pushed from the official handle of the Congress. The entire animation was based on falsehood," SJM co-convener Ashwani Mahajan said in a statement.

The Congress is backing certain pharmaceutical lobbyists.

And the party is ignorant of the observations documented by its own MPs in the standing committee of parliament in 2007---where they also opposed the introduction of this drug in the country, he said.

Mahajan clarified that on the basis of scientific researches, the SJM wrote to the prime minister and sought his intervention.

"Modi not only intervened, but stopped the introduction of this vaccine," he added.
