Swiggy expands operations to Lucknow

Naspers-backed online food ordering and delivery platform Swiggy is expanding its operations to Lucknow.

In a statement, the company said it is launching operations in Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Hazratganj and other areas covering over 220 restaurants.

"Lucknow has a mix of different cuisines and influences woven into its culinary tradition, and we are excited to serve here," said Srivats T.S., Vice President-Marketing at Swiggy.

Swiggy recently expanded to seven new cities including Chandigarh, Nagpur and more, covering 15 cities in the country. The app comes with features including food delivery, live order tracking, no minimum order and multiple paying options.

After recently securing $100 million in funding led by South Africa’s Naspers and Chinese delivery giant Meituan-Dianping, Swiggy is in talks for another $200 million from Russia’s DST Global and US-based hedge fund Coatue Management, ET reported in April this year.
