Thiruvananthapuram: Binoy Viswam, Elamaram Kareem and Jose K Mani will be elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state unopposed. After the scrutiny, the three nominations were accepted by the returning officer here on Tuesday. The decision on their election will be announced on Thursday, the last day for filing the nomination.
Even though the LDF had lodged a complaint against Jose K Mani for occupying Lok Sabha seat at the time of nomination for the Rajya Sabha election, the returning officer legislature secretary V K Babu Prakash rejected this complaint on Tuesday.

CPM MLA Suresh Kurup filed a complaint before the legislature secretary that Mani’s nomination should be rejected since he has not resigned from the post of Lok Sabha MP. He alleged that it is against the office of profit rules and hence his nomination should be rejected.

However, the returning officer rejected this complaint and accepted the nomination of Mani. Dr K Padmarajan, the homeo doctor from Salem, who is known for contesting in most of the elections against senior political leaders, had also filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election from Kerala. However, the returning officer rejected his nomination in the scrutiny.
