Man Utd transfer news: Jose Mourinho makes ‘promise’ to Real Madrid star Gareth Bale
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly desperate to sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
Wales international Bale, who is a long-term target for the Red Devils, put United on alert after the Champions League final.
Bale, 28, revealed he may quit Real this summer in search of regular game time elsewhere.
And according to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, Mourinho has held talks with Bale, with the United boss promising him he can win the Ballon d'Or at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Spanish sports programme El Chiringuito, Inda said: ”Mou has given an argument to Bale, who loves him. Mourinho said, 'Gareth, with us, with me, you will be once and for all the Golden Ball [win the Balon d’Or].
“That is what Mou a Bale has transmitted to him.

“Some people around Florentino [Perez, Real Madrid president] asked him to leave, but seen what was seen in the final in Kiev, they guessed right.
“If Zidane had continued, the chances of leaving Bale would have been much greater.
“Mr. Perez wants the Welshman to continue.”
Bale’s Real future is currently up in the air, especially following Zinedine Zidane’s shock departure earlier this month.
The winger, who joined Real in 2013 from Tottenham, has struggled with injuries during his time at the Bernabeu.
However, despite spending spells on the sidelines, Bale has still won the Champions League four times with Real.
Mourinho tried to sign Real forward Bale last summer, however, the Spanish giants refused to sell the former Tottenham star.
The Special One has been busy this transfer window, with United signing Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred and Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.
