BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2018 counselling for JEE main rank holders for admissions into BTech and BPlan has been postponed to June 18. It was scheduled to be held on June 12. According to OJEE chairman in-charge Manish Tripathy, the counselling has been postponed due to technical glitches in the server managed by National Informatics Centre (NIC).“All of a sudden, the problem occurred and the dates for counselling process had to be rescheduled accordingly. We have notified the tentative schedule on our website,” Tripathy said.

As per the fresh schedule notified by OJEE authorities on their website www.odishajee.com, the registration and filing of choices for aspirants will commence on June 18 and is scheduled to end on June 27. The first round of seat allotment list will be published on July 2. The documents of candidates will be verified between July 6 and July 12 at nodal centres. The second round seat allotment will be declared on July 14, for which document verification will be done between July 18 and July 20.

The final seat allotment list will be out on July 23 and the documents will be verified on July 25. Sources said uploading of data in NIC server is a complicated process for which technical errors may have occurred. After publication of JEE (main) results, the State authorities receive it from CBSE and then the data is filtered and uploaded in the server and this task needs to be done within the official decorum under some strict regulations for which the officials may not have been able to meet the deadline, sources added.
Experts, however, said from the students’ point of view, it will help them. Had the problem cropped up after commencement of  counselling process, the students  would have suffered.
