Final week to submit your comments on land expropriation

Members of the public have until Friday June 15 to make written submissions to the Constitutional Review Committee, which is looking into amending Section 25 of the Constitution regarding the expropriation of land without compensation.

The committee will embark on a tour of the nine provinces to hold public hearings on the subject later this month. There will also be an opportunity for oral submissions in Parliament in August.

Details on how to submit a written submission, either by letter or email, can be found on Parliament's website. You can read here about when the public hearings will be held in your province.

Or you can use this tool, developed by civic tech organisation Open Up in partnership with the Parliamentary Monitoring Group. There are a series of questions, which should take no longer than five minutes to answer, which will then be submitted to the committee via email.
