TRICHY: A 45-year-old man was arrested in Saliyamangalam in Thajavur district of
Tamil Nadu on Tuesday for sexually assaulting his 15- year-old daughter.
Based on a complaint filed by the girl, the
Pudukkottai all-woman police arrested the man. A case was registered against him under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012.
The man has two daughters. His elder daughter alleged that he had sexually assaulted her over the past one year, especially after the death of her mother. The girl told the police that her mother had committed suicide as she could not bear the insult from his father who doubted her fidelity.
However, the man denied the charges saying that he had been consoling his daughter after the death of her mother, but she had misunderstood his intention.
