The Delhi Police has registered a rape case against a self-styled god-man at Fatehpur Beri police station on Sunday, said a senior police officer on Monday.
The police said a 25-year-old woman filed a complaint against Daati Maharaj alleging that he had sexually abused her.
The woman allegedly told the police that she has been Daati’s disciple for a decade but after the incident, she along with two others left the ashram around two years back. She had gone to her home in Rajasthan, the police said.
She has also mentioned the role of two more male disciples who also raped her. She claimed that she was sexually abused in Daati’s Delhi and Rajasthan ashram on many occasions.
In her complaint, she also named one woman disciple who forced her to visit Daati’s room where she was repeatedly raped.
She had once refused to visit Daati’s room when the woman disciple told her that many disciples have done the same and there is no harm in it, the complaint read.
The police said the woman claimed that she was in depression after she ran away from the ashram owing to continuous sexual harassment. She finally narrated the ordeal to her parents following which they registered a police complaint.
“We have registered a case under IPC Sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex) and 354 (molestation) against the persons named in the FIR at Fatehpur Beri police station.
The victim’s statement under CrPC section 164 before a magistrate is yet to be recorded,” said a senior police officer.
‘Threat to family’
Meanwhile, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) said that an FIR has been registered in the case but the woman is yet to get her copy of the same.
Also, she has been denied of the medical report despite repeated requests.
DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that there is a threat to the victim’s and her family.
