‘Vested interests misleading govt’

The management of spice processing company Synthite Industries, Kadayirippu, near here, have said that they are open to talks with the group of protesting employees but insisted that the transfer orders issued to a group of employees, which triggered the protests, was according to the requirements of the company.

A statement from Synthite Industries claimed here on Monday that members of the CITU-affiliated trade union was preventing workers from joining duty.

It said that the granulation and spray dryer units were being shifted to Coimbatore as part of the business strategy of the company.

Eighteen employees working in these units were transferred as part of the business plans, the statement added.

The management said that around 700 willing workers were being prevented from joining duty by a small number of people and these activities could not be described as trade union activities.

There was no legally recognised trade union at the spice processing unit now and the management was not opposed to the formation of trade union as per existing laws, it said.

The management also said that some vested interests were trying to provide wrong information to the government on the issue.
