Katie Piper reveals what motivated her ‘positive changes’ as she opens up on weight loss
KATIE PIPER has spoken out about what motivated her to make changes in her life and shed two stone in weight, after she “experienced a lot of crashes” after giving birth to her second child earlier this year.
The 34-year-old welcomed her second daughter, Penelope, with her husband Richard Sutton back in January.
Now, the TV presenter and writer has spoken out about what motivated her to make “positive changes” to her lifestyle after giving birth to the youngster.
It came during an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, in which Katie, who also shares Belle with her spouse, spoke frankly about her weight loss journey.
Speaking at the launch of The Healthy Happy Mum Plan, Katie cast her mind back to what prompted her to make changes in her lifestyle.
She told Express.co.uk: “After giving birth to Pea, I was tired.
I needed to make those positive changes
“I was obviously overweight, because you would be straight after having a child, but I was lethargic and had low energy.
Katie went on: “I was experiencing a lot of crashes from eating sugar as a quick fix then being hungry straight away because it wasn’t nutritional.
“It didn’t fill me up and I wanted to be the best mum to the girls - which means I need to be able to get up early, I need to be able to run around, do swimming lessons ballet and also go to work.
Opening up about how she strived to alter her lifestyle, Katie continued: “I needed to make those positive changes in being fuller longer, eating the right things, and eating and not being hungry.
“As a bonus, I lost weight and I was able to get back into my pre pregnancy wardrobe.”

Katie went on to open up about The Heatlhy Happy Mum Plan, which she co-wrote with her friend, weight-loss guru and mother-of-four TerriAnn Nunns.
“It is an ongoing lifestyle,” she said. “It's not a diet, it's not a quick fix. It is a lifestyle.”
Last week, the writer took to Instagram to share a snap of herself just months after giving birth to her second child, as well as a snap of her current physique.
Spilling all about her 679,000 followers’ reaction to the photos, she said: “They were all really supportive and inspired.
“Lots of people said they want to make positive changes, and change their food choices.

“Because it's not about saying, ‘I need to go on a six week diet.’ It's about embracing and re-educating yourself, and how you're living really.”
Earlier this year, Katie opened up about how becoming a mother-of-two has been different to carrying her first child.
Revealing she was more worried when she was pregnant with Belle, the writer told Express.co.uk: “When it’s your first you’re so scared they’re gonna die or you’re going to do something wrong.
“Then you realise with your second that babies are quite strong and resilient.”
She added: “With my second baby I have a more natural instinct knowing what they want, not panicking but I think it’s understandable.”
