NEW PHILADELPHIA A 39-year-old man pleaded guilty Monday to three charges of sexual battery involving a child who was 15 years old when the crime began.
Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Judge Elizabeth Lehigh Thomakos found Jeremy W. Stout guilty and scheduled his sentencing for July 25.
The prosecution is recommending three years in prison and designation as a sex offender as part of a negotiated-plea agreement, according to Michael Ernest, assistant county prosecutor.
Thomakos said the potential punishments include a prison term of 12 months to 60 months and a $10,500 fine for each offense. Five years of parole supervision is mandatory.
A January indictment said the crimes occurred between May 1, 2016, and July 1, 2017, when the victim would have been 16. New Philadelphia police investigated the case.
Stout lives at 202 St. Clair Ave. SW, according to court records.
