Suspect shot during attempted New Castle County burglary: Police

A 20-year-old man is in an area hospital with gunshot wounds after police say he tried to burglarize a home in Arundel.

New Castle County Police responded to a reported burglary around 11:30 p.m. Monday on the 1100 block of Flint Hill Road, according to a release issued by police. There, they learned the 20-year-old had entered a home while the family was inside. The homeowner found the suspect in one of the rooms, where he had been hit by gunfire.

The suspect was being treated for life-threatening injuries, and the homeowner is uninjured. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
