A portion of state Route 605 in New Albany closed June 6 for a construction project for up to 75 days, according to New Albany officials.
The southbound lane of Route 605 – also known locally as New Albany-Condit Road – is closed between New Albany Road and Walnut Street, said city spokesman Scott McAfee.
The northbound lane will remain open, he said.
The closure is for a road-widening project by the New Albany Co., McAfee said. The project will make way for Nottingham Trace, a Pulte Homes development that will include 240 age-restricted homes off Schleppi Road and west of Route 605, and will accommodate the future home of Canine Companions for Independence at 7444 New Albany-Condit Road, he said.
A left-turn lane will be added on Route 605 northbound at the Nottingham Trace development, said Tom Rubey, director of development for the New Albany Co.
Another left-turn lane will be added on Route 605 southbound at the Canine Companions location, he said.
Construction will include improvements to the road's stormwater-drainage system, Rubey said.
The project, including detours, signs and construction, is being managed by the Ohio Department of Transportation, he said.
Another local closure involves Schleppi Road between Walnut Road and Route 605 because it is being rerouted through the Nottingham Trace site, said Matt Callahan, vice president of land acquisition with Pulte Homes.
Schleppi will be realigned and connected to the street network of the Nottingham community as well as Route 605, he said.
"We expect that to be complete and open by the end of summer," Callahan said.
