Following closely on the launch of the all-new BMW X3 diesel, BMW Group has now introduced the much-awaited petrol variant in the form of the X3 xDrive30i. This new sports activity vehicle (SAV), as BMW likes to call it, is touted to offer an exhilarating driving experience and will be offered in the Luxury Line trim. Like its diesel sibling, this variant is also locally produced at the BMW Group facility in Chennai.

The all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i – What you need to know
The BMW X3 in its latest avatar boasts of a striking design language that lends it a sophisticated and sporty appeal. Key design features includes the enhanced double kidney grille, fully adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lamps with new hexagonal designs, LED taillights, a low-slung roof spoiler and chrome exhaust pipes. Completing the package are the 19 inch alloy wheels.
There is more space on board than what its predecessor offered and the BMW X3 now gets ambient lighting with six dimmable light designs to suit your mood. The Luxury Line trim includes the leather upholstery in Vernasca and a fine-wood trim in poplar grain grey. Key technologies on board include an extensive range of BMW ConnectedDrive systems like the 12.3-inch Multifunction Instrument Display, BMW iDrive, including touch controller, BMW Navigation Professional (with 10.25-inch touch screen), 600 Watts high-end Surround Sound system from Harman Kardon, Apple Car Play, BMW Apps and Connectivity through Bluetooth and USB. You also get the BMW Display Key, rear view camera with park assist, smartphone holder with wireless charging. As far as luggage space is concerned, the BMW X3 offers 550 litres of luggage space which can be expanded to 1,600 litres thanks to the 40/20/20 split folding rear seat.
Powering the BMW X3 xDrive30i is a 2.0 litre, four cylinder petrol TwinPower Turbo engine that delivers 252 hp of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The petrol X3 is capable of going from 0-100km/h in just 6.3 seconds! The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic steptronic sport transmission and you also get paddle shifters for that added driving pleasure. To ensure that you enjoy the driving dynamics that the X3 has to offer, BMW has kitted it out with a lot of tech. This includes the intelligent all-wheel-drive system, adaptive suspensions, electronically controlled ‘Automatic Differential Brakes/locks (ADB-X)’, extended ‘Dynamic Traction control (DTC)’, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
The X3 xDrive30i also benefits from multiple driving modes that include EcoPro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. At a simple switch of the button, the driver can select the mode to suit their driving style or mood and truly enjoy what this vehicle has to offer. Having said that, it is equally important to play safe and on this count, BMW has left no stone unturned for the X3 comes with six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.
