VADODARA:
Gujarat government has served a notice to the superintending engineer of the Sardar Sarovar project, who had last month claimed that he is the 10th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Explaining his truancy to his superiors, Rameshchandra Fefar, the superintending engineer with the Sardar Sarovar Punah-Vasvat Agency (Sardar Sarovar Rehabilitation and Resettlement Agency) had claimed that he is overqualified for his mundane job at the agency as he is ‘Kalki’ – the 10th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
Fefar had said this in his reply to a show-cause notice on his absence from work – where he reported on duty for only 16 days in eight months of service.
“Should I kill time in office or meditate from home to prevent droughts in the country?” Fefar had asked in his reply to the show-cause notice which was issued to him by the commissioner (west) of SSPA.
Sources now suggest that Fefar has been issued notice by the state government to explain his irresponsible behaviour at SSPA.
After receiving Fefar’s shocking reply, SSPA officials had reported the same to Gujarat government as the officer belonged to the water resources department from where he was on deputation at SSPA.
“The state government is expected to take action based on his reply to this notice,” said an official.
The earlier show-cause notice issued to him had rebuked Fefar for his attendance record. “You have remained highly erratic ever since you joined duty on September 22, 2017...you have remained absent without any authorization,” the notice had said. “This kind of conduct is not befitting a government official. Your absence from duty has adversely impacted the working of rehabilitation which is in its final stages as you are not available for providing guidance to the subordinates.”
The notice had asked for an explanation about the unauthorized absence in seven days and warned of action.
Fefar had also claimed that he is an ardent devotee of Jagdamba Ma and his prayers had saved Gujarat from drought despite the attempts by ‘Anti God’ to halt the rains.
