By the end of June, local train commuters who use Mumbai Central station will be able to order pizzas from a vending machine, which they will get in just seven minutes.

The Indian Railway Catering Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is introducing its second pizza vending machine in the country this month at Mumbai Central station. The machine costs Rs80 lakh, and one is already operational in Bengaluru.

The pizzas will cost between Rs70 and Rs250, depending on the order. Commuters will be able to choose the type of crust, the sauces and the toppings, and will have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

People will have to pay with their debit or credit card, collect their token and insert it into the vending machine, which will be located at the station’s food court.

“The tenders [for setting up and operating the machine] have already been issued, and we are planning to start operating the pizza vending machine by the end of this month,” said Pinakin Morawala, chief public relations officer, IRCTC.

Apart from a pizza vending machine, Mumbai Central station will also get its first food vending machine soon, which will give commuters a range of eatables to choose from.
