Telangana: Congress submits memo to Speaker on MLAs’ expulsion

HYDERABAD: Stating that the High Court’s verdict annulling the expulsion of Congress members Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and SA Sampath Kumar from the House had not been implemented even after 50 days, a delegation of party leaders on Monday submitted a memorandum to the State Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary. The delegation included the two expelled members, led by K Jana Reddy and N Uttam Kumar Reddy. 

Later, Jana Reddy told media that in the wake of Karnataka Governor’s decision to follow Supreme Court order to shorten the time period given to BJP to prove its majority in the House, the TS Assembly Speaker too should honour the High Court’s verdict. “Even Election Commission of India set aside the TS government’s letter declaring the Assembly segments represented by Komatireddy and Sampath as vacant seats. Following these examples, the Speaker should restore the membership of our two MLAs.” “If the state government continues its adamant attitude towards this issue, we will be left with no option but to undertake a campaign at national level,” he said.

Revanth argues with Speaker

Sources said that a little argument erupted between Congress member A Revanth Reddy and Speaker Madhusudhana Chary. The Kodangal MLA reportedly questioned the Speaker about the state government’s failure to implement the court’s order.
