Officers to adopt schools, anganwadi centres in East Godavari district

Pregnant women will be sensitised on heath issues, says East Godavari Collector

East Godavari Collector Karthikeya Mishra has asked all the district, divisional and mandal level officers to adopt a school or an anganwadi centre in their respective areas to ensure the substantial progress of these institutions.

Reviewing the progress of developmental activities through a video conference from the Sub-Collector’s office at Rajamahendravaram on Monday, the Collector said that it was the responsibility of every officer to work for the development of these institutions.

Mentioning that there are 3,445 government schools and 5546 anganwadi centres in the district, the Collector asked the officers to adopt an institution of their choice. “The officers will start visiting the schools and anganwadi centres from Wednesday (June 13) as the schools will reopen from Tuesday after summer vacation. The officers will interact with the students, verify the usage of provisions at anganwadi centres and guide pregnant women on health issues,” Mr. Karthikeya Mishra said.

‘Gokulams’ in villages

Later in the day, the Collector reviewed the activities of Animal Husbandry Department and said that Gokulams would be constructed in the villages where the livestock was more and asked the officials to identify 25 cents of land in the villages for this purpose. He also asked them to disburse the newly sanctioned 23,000 pensions to the district by Wednesday.

The Collector asked the officials them to expedite the Kotipalli –Narsapuram broad gauge railway works, constitution of expert group for naval enclave works at Kakinada and for the flyovers on NH-16.

Rajamahendravaram Sub-Collector Saikanth Varma and his Rampachodavaram counterpart Vinod Kumar were present.
