President Ram Nath Kovind will embark on a three nation tour to Greece, Suriname and Cuba from the 16th to 22nd of this month.
On the first leg of the visit, the President will leave for Athens this Saturday. He will be accompanied by a large delegation including Minister of State for Steel Vishnu Deo Sai. Briefing media in New Delhi, Joint Secretary, Central Europe, Subrata Bhattacharjee said, President Kovind will meet Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos during his visit. He will also meet his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras and the Leader of Opposition.
Besides, Mr Kovind is scheduled to visit places of historical and archaeological importance and address the Indian diaspora. He is also scheduled to visit Monument of Unknown Soldiers and lay a wreath there. President Kovind will leave for Suriname on the 19th. He will hold discussions with President Desire Delano Bouterse followed by official level talks.
A number of agreements and MoUs in the areas of health and medicine, elections, IT, Ayurveda are scheduled to be signed.
Suriname is a founding member of the International Solar Alliance. A Line of Credit of 54.5 million dollars is being offered to Suriname for solar related projects. On the last leg of the visit, the President will be in Cuba from 21-22 June. He will hold a wide range of discussions with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.
A number of agreements and MoUs in the areas of bio technology, research and education in homeopathic medicine, traditional system of medicine and medicinal plants would be signed during the visit.
