Knife-twirling woman takes over Iowa City park gazebo

Rose Yeager, 18, apprehended in College Green Park

IOWA CITY — A woman twirling daggers in College Green Park claimed a public gazebo as “her place” Monday evening, according to Iowa City police.

Rose Yeager, 18, told other people in the park to stay away from the gazebo, according to police, and was twirling the knives “around her finger in a threatening manner.”

Two people complained to police. When officers arrived, Yeager hid the daggers in her shoes and down her shirt, according to a police complaint.

Yeager faces aggravated misdemeanor charges of carrying weapons and concealed knife used in a crime. She also is charged with trespassing, a simple misdemeanor.

She was being held on a $5,000 bond as of Tuesday morning.
