LUDHIANA: After being pleasant for last few days, weather has started warming up again. Temperatures remained above normal in the city on Monday. The bad news for the residents on weather front is that the Met department has predicted dry and hot weather in the coming few days.
According to Met, the city’s maximum temperature on Monday was recorded at degrees Celsius which is degrees more than normal and degrees more than that was recorded on Sunday. The night temperature was recorded at 27.7 degrees Celsius, which is 2 degrees more than normal and 1.6 degrees more than that recorded on Sunday. The relative humidity in the city was recorded at 66%, which was 14% less than normal.

Even as the residents enjoyed a few days of pleasant weather, the Met department forecast might not sound good to them as it predicted rise in temperature in the next few days. “The weather is likely to be hot and dry for the next three to four days. During this time, the temperatures are expected to rise,” said director of Chandigarh Met department, Surender Paul.

The Met department website meanwhile predicted rise in day temperature to 40 degrees Celsius till Wednesday after which it is expected to remain constant till June 15. The Met predicted night temperature to rise to 30 degrees Celsius till June 16.

The residents now have already started battling hot weather conditions prevailing in the city. “Weather was quite pleasant for the last two to three days after it rained in the city. But now, temperatures have already started to shooting up. We are using air conditioners round the clock and have increased fluid intake to keep ourselves hydrated,” said Paramjit Kaur, a government employee from Pakhowal road. She added that if the weather heats up further in the coming days, she would plan a family trip to Manali.

Children have also started to experience hot conditions. “As the weather was good, my friends and I have been playing cricket in the park near my house around 6pm for last few days. However today, it was hot and so we decided to cancel it. Now, I am forced to play games on my computer even though I do feel it bored sometimes,” said Gurdev Singh, a student of B R S Nagar.
