DeKALB – Laura Shaw has been named publisher of the Daily Chronicle, MidWeek and Valley Life newspapers, Shaw Media has announced.

In addition to serving as publisher of the company's DeKalb publications, Shaw also will be publisher of its expansive portfolio of weekly newspapers in the Chicago suburbs, including the Kane County Chronicle newspapers, Suburban Life newspapers in Cook and DuPage counties, and the Record newspapers in Kendall County.

"I am honored and excited to take on this new role," Shaw said. "I have been dedicated to newspapers for the past 14 years and look forward to what's ahead. We have a great team at the Daily Chronicle, Midweek and Valley Life and I am privileged to be a part of it."

Shaw is an 14-year veteran of the news publishing industry, most recently working as the Director of Marketing and Specialty Publishing at Shaw Media. Her previous role was as general manager of Suburban Life and Kane County Chronicle. She also worked for Sun-Times Media in her career. She lives in Plainfield with her husband, Tom, and two sons.

Eric Olson, general manager of Shaw Media's DeKalb properties, will report to Shaw and is responsible for the day-to-day operations there.

Shaw Media has made other recent leadership moves as well. Jennifer Heintzelman was appointed general manager of Sauk Valley Media and its associated publications in and around Dixon and Sterling, and Steve Vanisko was named publisher of the daily Joliet Herald-News and other Joliet-based businesses.
