49 bovine animals rescued, 3 smugglers held in Udhampur : Police

With the arrest of three people, police today claimed to have busted two bids to smuggle bovines in district and rescued 49 animals from their possession.

Acting on a tip-off, police parties of and Tikri intercepted two trucks at a check-post on a highway near Tikri last night, a said today.

Noticing the police, of one of the truck abandoned his vehicle and fled away from the spot taking advantage of dense forests, the said.

During checking of both the trucks, 44 bovine animals were found illegally and cruelly loaded in these vehicles, he said.

The accused of other truck was identified as of Ramban and was arrested on the spot, he said, adding both the vehicles were seized.

Foiling another smuggling bid in district last night, police arrested two persons and rescued 5 bovine animals were from their vehicle, the added.
