MYSURU: Police on Sunday arrested a farm owner and his brother for allegedly dumping the bodies of two tribesmen who were
electrocuted after coming in contact with a high-voltage electric fence, erected to protect the crop from wild animals, in their property near Kusegowdana Hundi, HD taluk.
Madaiah, 40, and his 20-year-old son Praveen from Anagatti Haadi met with the tragedy on Friday when they were returning home after collecting honey from beehives in Kusegowdana Hundi. Madaiah accidentally touched the electric fence in Marigowda’s farm. Seeing his father electrocuted, Praveen went to the rescue, but both died on the spot. Another
tribal, Mariappa, a witness to the incident, ran towards the village and alerted the residents there.
Marigowda and his brother Nijalingappa tried covering up the incident by stuffing the bodies in sacks and dumping them into Kapila (Kabina) river on Friday night.
However, on Sunday, a few villagers spotted the bodies float in the river and informed
HD Kote police. The bodies were fished out and police collected information about the
electrocution from Mariappa.
It is alleged that Marigowda connected the electric fence with high voltage power, while the forest department allows only solar-powered electric boundary.
