When Vishwaroopam released in 2013, there was instant backlash, with fringe groups moving the State government to ban the film. After a lot of back and forth, the movie eventually released and audiences found out that there was a second part in the wings. And the wait for that seemed interminable.
But now, we have a release date. Kamal Haasan announced August 10, 2018 as the date of worldwide release while launching the first official trailer of the movie on Monday.
The trailer offers more information about Wisam Ahmad Kashmiri, the Indian spy played by Kamal Haasan, and we see him becoming bigger in the terrorist organisation that he has infiltrated. In Vishwaroopam, we got to know that Vishwanath aka Wisam was not who he said he was. The sequel takes his role further.
Older filmgoers are also in for a surprise in this trailer, as Waheeda Rehman makes a brief appearance.
Vishwaroopam II also stars Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat.
