CM seeks corporates’ help in making ‘no-plastic’ zone

Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Sunday sought help from corporate houses to make the State free from plastic menace. Addressing a CSR review meeting at district headquarters, Das said that the corporate houses must shun use of plastic bags and bottles at their respective premises and also encourage people at its operational areas to make city as well as the state plastic free.

He said that work being done by industrialists under corporate social responsibility in various fields for society is certainly admirable. Under the CSR, the decision to spend 1 per cent in priority areas set by the state government is taken by the CSR Council at the state level. He added that the corporates must ensure that within five months the target will be fulfilled.

“We need to focus on establishing CCTV cameras in urban areas, supplying clean drinking water in rural areas and specially focused towards making the district free from plastic,” noted Das.

The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister has called upon the people that on October 2, 2019, on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to make India clean. The state government has decided that this target will be achieved by 2 October 2018 and the state government is working in this direction.

The Chief Minister said that Jharkhand is the most prosperous state in terms of natural wealth but it still has problems like poverty and malnutrition. The government is working towards resolving this stigma and is working towards it. Chief Minister asked the representatives to give priority to the supply of clean drinking water to tackle malnutrition and contaminated water borne diseases.

The Chief Minister also called upon corporates to set up CCTV cameras for the protection of law and order in the urban areas. The responsibility of every corporate sector is to also contribute to the infrastructure.On the call of the Chief Minister, various industrialists assured the establishment of CCTV cameras in urban areas and plastic bags, bottles, etc. among their establishments and employees and ensure clean drinking water supply in remote villages of Potka and Dumariya.

After the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar informed that the various companies of the East Singhbhum District and Aditypur area have been asked to work under areas of clean drinking water, CCTV cameras and shun use of plastic bags, bottles. The task is to be completed in five months.
