Pak President Hopes for Economic Stability

President Mamnoon Hussain, while speaking in a session of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in China on Sunday, remarked that he hopes that the general elections in 2018 will bring further economic stability in Pakistan, Geonews reported. He said that Pakistan has witnessed the valuable improvement in services and agricultural sector, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has further strengthened Pakistan’s economy. Pakistan hopes to make big achievements from the SCO after its full membership as the group makes efforts to bring all the members—especially Pakistan and India—closer. Senior officials at the foreign ministry told The Nation newspaper that Pakistan was optimistic to benefit from the SCO for regional peace. One official said: “We obviously want peace and prefer talks. We are hopeful the SCO leaders will press India to resume the dialogue process. SCO members have been active in bringing Pakistan and India closer. This is a positive step.”
