Bengaluru: Gang hacks rowdy to death; 1 arrested

A gang of armed men hacked a 24-year-old history sheeter to death at Konanakunte Cross on Kanakapura Road in the wee hours of Sunday.

BENGALURU:A gang of armed men hacked a 24-year-old history sheeter to death at Konanakunte Cross on Kanakapura Road in the wee hours of Sunday.Immediately after the incident, policemen Manjunath and Shivanna from Subramanyapura, who were on night patrol, spotted the gang and were able to nab one of the assailants after a chase.

The arrested is Pawan (30).The deceased is Jayanth Kumar, a resident of Chamarajpet. One of the associates of the deceased also sustained injuries even as Kumar's body lay in the middle of the road.
Kumar was involved in multiple criminal cases since 2015. He was jailed in 2016 after allegedly killing another rowdy Ganesh, but was released on bail four months ago.

A senior police officer said the incident took place around 2.30am. Kumar had just left a bar after attending a party with his friends when he was waylaid by the gang and attacked. His friend Lokesh, who rushed to his help, was also attacked. He is now recovering at a private hospital.Police said that Kumar was planning to kill Kulla Ram, a rowdy from a rival gang. Ram's gang came to know about this and therefore attacked Kumar.
