Marriages can be registered online, via MCG website

GURUGRAM: After doorstep delivery of birth and death certificates, the department of the urban local bodies has taken the process of marriage registration online. All documents can be submitted along with the form and proof of marriage on the portal.
For one to access the link, one has to visit the marriage registration link on MCG’s website, clicking on which will redirect one to the ULB website. Once there, applicants can submit the application form along with the required documents.

The required documents include an affidavit, along with identification documents of the husband and wife. “Once the documents have been uploaded, a team will check them and schedule an interview with the nearest marriage registration office, where the original documents can be vetted,” said Vivek Kalia, joint commissioner, MCG. Though the need to visit authorities beats the purpose of the online process, officials said there is no other way around it. Once the process is complete, the marriage certificate will be available online for the applicants to download.

Notably, earlier this year, MCG started online application and door-step delivery of birth and death certificates in the city. The corporation has developed a software for the same, which can be accessed through their official website. The applicant is required to submit all required details online. Once the certificate is ready, it is sent to the address of the applicant through speed post.
