Mumbai-based fiction writer Sudeep Nagarkar visited Pages The Book Shop here on Saturday for promotion of his latest book She Friend-Zoned My Love.
Mr. Nagarkar published his first book Few Things Left Unsaid in 2011. Since then he has published nine more titles. Last year, his novel Our Story Needs No Filter was one of the top ten selling books under the fiction category. Just like his previous books, She Friend-Zoned My Love is yet another take on early romance.
Mr. Nagarkar continues addressing the impact of peer-pressure and dynamics with parents on a teenager’s behaviour. In the latest book he explores the problem of body shaming in society.
Even before he was set to take the stage, fans were waiting for him. Most of them were in their early twenties. Sindhura Vivek, 20, said, “My favourite book by Mr. Nagarkar is It Started With A Friend Request. But I hope his next novel isn’t a love story.”
The event started with Mr. Nagarkar introducing the plot of the book. He said, “After the book release in April, I got a lot of emails asking why not he instead of she. I subsequently realised that men aren’t the only ones who face the problem of getting friend-zoned. But crux of the book is, the person you want to date is a friend first and sometimes you just stay friends.”
