Amit Shah to meet MSD under BJP’s outreach drive

Extending his social engagement programme  in Jharkhand in the run up to 2019 general elections, BJP’s national president Amit Shah would be meeting some of the big names, including former captain of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Shah is scheduled to visit the State in July under the ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ initiative which the ruling party at the Centre is at present continuing with across the country.

The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of State BJP leaders with party’s national general secretary Ram Madhav. Madhav during his tour on Sunday sat separately with office bearers first and later held a core committee meeting comprising top leaders, including State president Laxman Gilua, MPs Jayant Sinha, Sudarsan Bhagat and Ravindra Rai, former Chief Minister Arjun Munda and several others.

“Our president would pay a visit here next month and review the task he had given to the State organisation during his previous visit in the light of the Mission-2019. Along with that he under ‘Sampark for Samarthan’ programme would meet some renowned personalities of the State, including Madendra Singh Dhoni and share the achievements of the NDA with them,” said a senior leader present in the meeting. The programme in a sense commenced as well with Jayant Sinha holding a discussion with Padma award winner Simon Oraon and bunch of other intellectuals separately.

Inputs coming out of the twin meetings with Ram Madhav suggest that the leaders have been reminded about the tasks given for strengthening the party up to booth level besides new areas getting explored. Ram Madhav also spoke briefly about this.

“We met here to work as per the directions of our national president to ensure our victory in 2019 and win all 14 seats in Jharkhand. It has been decided that we would boost our reach even further up to our booth level workers and panna pramukhs. Work in that direction has been started,” said the general secretary stressing over the contact of the party to be refreshed with different sections of the society.

Insiders suggested that the meeting was entirely on organisational level in which tasks were given to reconnect with ground level workers, supporters and likeminded people. “Government part was not discussed and that is why no Minister in the Raghubar Das Cabinet attended it barring Neelkant Singh Munda. Senior leaders have been tasked to work in their respective areas without letting their grievances coming in the way,” said a general secretary with State BJP.

During the meeting some problem areas for the party’s goal for the Lok Sabha elections were also marked that included ways to make inroads into Santhal Paragana. “JMM has been very strong in Santhal yet we won seats there in 2014 and later also in the Assembly polls. Again we have to stop the JMM making advances there. Repeating success we received in Palamu would be a challenge and the party is looking at this,” said a senior leader.
